House Of Bricks

Hello everyone and welcome or welcome back to my blog. So this week I am posting about my house of bricks reflection. House of bricks came to our school and we got to do 3 really fun activitys. I hope you enjoy my work and have a great day.

My favourite Lego activity was the mosaics because I got to experiment with different colors and use symmetry and we got to spin the designs and see what type of pattern it would make. Also there were lots of different colors and you could design whatever you wanted.

My least favourite Lego activity was pass the bricks because when my work came back to me, it didn’t look how I expected it to. I started off building a house and when I got it back it was still a house but with a tower inside it.

The activity that tested my perseverance the most was the tower building because we only got a certain amount of time to build the tallest tower in the room. It really tested my perseverance because I was working in a group of ten and with some people I didn’t really know.

The most challenging activity was the car race because we had a lot of trial and error because you had to test and make sure your car would go as far as you could get it. And my partner and I had to make a lot of changes and it was really challenging.

I enjoyed working collaboratively with others because when you work together with other people you can help each other and share ideas. You also get the work done faster and easier.

Terrific Town Trip

 Terrific Town Trip

Hello! How has your day been so far? Today I'm going to tell you all about a town trip I went on. So on the 20th of May, my Hub and I went on a Town trip to do some learning for our PBL.

When we got off the bus I was already so excited. Me and my team started off at Margaret Mahy playground where our teacher showed us all the special markings around the park.

Next, we headed over to see tuna and the mats and our teacher showed us all about how the mats are very deep so if something happens, they can dig them up and move them. We also fed the eels. But I have to admit, the eels kind of scared me.

After that, we ran over to the Waka. The lady taught us the commands for when we are in the Waka, after that we hopped in. My arms started to get tired, but I kept on going. I’m pretty sure we all enjoyed it.

Victoria Square was next, we learnt  how Victoria Square used to be a trading centre where you traded food. There was a big pou and the eyes for the creatures were paua shells. There were also some Māori carvings that both looked different but really cool. But after a long day of learning we had to leave, but I am definitely coming back. For sure.

My favourite part of the trip was the Waka because we all worked together really well to make the Waka go along the Avon. And plus it was just really cool because it was my first time going on a real Waka. It was also my first time seeing a real Waka.

Something I learnt was that the mats are really deep and that they have different meanings. Also, there are 13 different mats around town. I never really noticed the mats.

The thing I found the most interesting was that all the designs around Margaret Mahy have a special meaning to them . Also how there is so much Māori culture around the city. I never knew there was so much Māori stuff around our city.

Well I hope you enjoyed my recount, maybe you should look around our city and find some of these things.

Question: Have you ever seen a real Waka and also, have you ever been on one?

Magnificent Margaret Mahy

Hello everyone! Welcome back to my blog. Today im going to do a recount about the time I went to Margaret Mahy playground with my two friends Calystah and Lucy.
So on a perfect sunday evening me, Lucy and Calystah went to Margaret Mahy. We started off at the sandpit because we saw our friend Sofia, then we all raced over to the big silver slide. Lucy started sliding down then me then Calystah. I saw an avalible swing so I sprinted over to the swing and got comfortable. Lucy's mum gave us some lunch and we started playing again. Me and Lucy went down the big teal slide but Calystah was to scared so we just went down without her. We went down the slide a few more times but all good times have to come to an end, it was time to go home. But I will definitely be coming back.

You should go to Margaret Mahy because it is really fun!
Have a great day! Bye!
